Every figure is the brand's own published term on September 5, 2026, not a measurement. Where a cell says "none published" it is because the brand would not give the number. We have not run a controlled throttle test on Italian networks and we are not going to imply that we have. How we test.
What you actually pay per guaranteed gigabyte the number the marketing hides
"Unlimited" with a daily cap is really a fixed plan sold by the day. Multiply the cap by the days and you get the guaranteed full-speed data, which is the only data you can plan around.

On paper Saily's unlimited is the cheapest per guaranteed gigabyte at 48 cents. That number is a fiction for almost everybody, because it assumes you burn all five gigabytes every single day for a month. Nobody on holiday in Italy does that. The row that matters is the last one: 20GB for $23.99 covers a fortnight of heavy tourist use for a third the price of a month of unlimited, and it does not expire for ninety days.

Compare it against the middle usage row, which is where most travelers actually land, and unlimited loses every column by ten to thirty dollars. A gigabyte of tethered data is about two hours of video calling, or one morning of ordinary browser-and-email work, or ten minutes of anything that syncs a folder. When unlimited genuinely is the right buy four cases

Airalo prints 3GB a day and 1 Mbps after it. That is enough certainty to decide whether it fits your habits before you pay, which two of the four alternatives make impossible.
GigSky's 3.5GB-a-day packs are the same product with the number in the plan name. $24.49 for a week. It is not cheaper than a fixed 20GB, but it is honest.
The middle usage row for fourteen days is 11GB. GigSky's 20GB at $23.99 covers it with room to spare and ninety days of validity, against $44.50 and up for unlimited over the same fortnight.

What is the cheapest unlimited eSIM for Italy?
By headline price, Yesim, at $66.23 for thirty days, and it is the one plan here that never publishes its daily cap. Airalo is $64.00 with a published 3GB a day, and Holafly is $64.50 genuinely uncapped on the phone. If you want the cheapest way to cover heavy use, none of them: GigSky's 50GB fixed plan is $33.89.
Is unlimited data in Italy really unlimited?
Only Holafly's, and only on the phone: it publishes no daily cap and separately limits hotspot to 1GB a day. Airalo caps at 3GB a day then 1 Mbps, Saily at 5GB a day then 1024 kbps, and Yesim will not say.
Which unlimited Italy eSIM has the biggest daily allowance?
Saily, at 5GB a day, larger than Airalo's 3GB. One warning: Saily's 5-day pack throttles to 1 kbps after the cap rather than 1024 kbps, which is effectively no connection. Buy the 10-day pack or longer.
Do I need unlimited data for Italy?
Almost certainly not. A normal two-week Italian holiday with photos and social media is around 11GB, which a 20GB fixed plan covers for $23.99 against $44.50 or more for unlimited. Unlimited earns its price for heavy streaming, long stays or nightly video calls.
Can I hotspot a laptop on an unlimited Italy eSIM?
On Saily, yes, with no separate ceiling, which makes it the best of these for real work. On Holafly, only 1GB a day, which is about two hours of video calls. Airalo and Yesim publish no separate hotspot cap.
What happens after the daily cap in Italy?
On Airalo, 1 Mbps until midnight, which carries maps, messaging, email and a rough video call but not streaming. On Saily, 1024 kbps, which is much the same, except on the 5-day pack where it is 1 kbps. On Yesim and Holafly there is no published figure to tell you.
